I'm an 11B E-4 wanting to do the bear program for 31B. almost four years TIS. ETS March 09. Not 1st term enlistment. Duty station in germany.

Can it be done?

Also can you get duty station of choice?

Sorry, because 11B is understrength, you cannot extend under the BEAR Program for 31B. (Also, you can select up to four locations you'd like to be stationed with the BEAR Program, but these are not guaranteed.)

So what is an option for me? Would i have to wait untill this enlistment is up and reclass?

You could probably request an exception to policy through your Career Counselor for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.

Mid-Career Soldiers serving in an over strength (N/Y) MOS inside the reenlistment window. As an exception, Soldiers serving in a balanced (N/N) MOS inside the reenlistment window may request an exception to policy through RMB. Soldiers must have a minimum of 24 months time on station before departing the installation.


This is in Option 3, just before you told me 11b is understrength so is it still possible?

My first enlistment was 3 years, i just did 2 years needs of army so i could come to afghanistan.

I'm not sure I follow your last statement ... seems you contradicting yourself?

You cannot go into the BEAR Program because your MOS is understrength.

You MAY be able to get an Option Exception because you are a mid-career Soldier request a Priority MOS (31B).
