Hopefully this is a question that hasn't already been asked and answered. I'm currently a 35F20 stationed in Germany. My reenlistment window opens this summer. If I decide to reenlist, it will be my second reenlistment and I'm highly interested in 37F. My question is, since this is not my first reenlistment, would I still be eligible for the BEAR program?

Mid-career Soldiers (as well as initial and career Soldier) are eligible for the BEAR Program.

However...

SOLDIER’S IN THE RANK OF PFC THRU SSG MUST SHOW N/N OR N/Y AT THEIR CURRENT
RANK AND MOS AS SHOWN IN THE CURRENT IN/OUT CALL MILPER MESSAGE.

If your MOS is a shortage MOS (or on the BEAR Program), you cannot extend under the BEAR Program.

What you can do, depending on the MOS strengths when you reenlistment window opens, is request an exception to reenlist for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option, and try to get into 37F.

HRC will be the approval/disapproval authority.

Due to the fact I am in a MI MOS, how likely is it that DA would approve my move to 37F? I've heard that USASOC has a little sway in pulling people into their MOS's.

Not realy sure, but 37F may be in higher demand (currently) that a few MI MOSs. Your branch is the one that needs to release you for a Voluntary Reclassification. If you reenlist for it, your branch doesn't have control...you do!

Good to go. Thank you for the help. We'll see what happens this summer when I go to reenlist.
