My husband is currently in basic, will be going to Ft. Gordon for AIT, 25s. Does anyone know anything about this job, for instance is there opportunity to go anywhere or are there specific duty stations he will be assigned to? He is curious (as am I), so any help or advice from experience with this unit would be appreciated!!
Your husband will have many options in this field. He can become tactical, and operate a mobile ground terminal in countless locations around the world. They support the soldiers and provide them mobile services in the field and in remote locations. He can become strategic and work in a hand full of locations at a fixed site around the world. They rarely go to the field unless they are doing some sort of force protection exercise and work shift, 12 hours. Finally, if he gets selected, usually by doing well in his schooling at FT Gordon, he can become a Satellite Network Controller, my current position which is also strategic. Looking up 53rd Signal BN will give you insight to their locations, only 6, Japan, Germany, Cali, Colorado and Maryland(x2). They are in charge of monitorig the satellites and the networks that go over them. Good luck to you both and feel free to ask any other questions.
