funeral detail, lifeguard, permanent CQ/staff duty, someones driver(anyone high ranking person like CSM/COL), someones assistance(like 1SG/CPT, key control, ......
all these depend on your rank, qualifications, duty station, number of soldiers in your unit, security clearance, .........
If you're deployed!!!! I actually do my MOS over here(Iraq), but I see alot of soldiers doing stuff thats not their MOS like: headcount(at DFAC), ID check point, convoy escort, tower duty, ..........

okeydokeyperson, who says that the job of an MP is just to go around killing people while deployed. You joined the Army for a reason and there was something about MP that you liked, unless it was the only thing you could get. Even in the states MP's don't just sit in patrol cars and ride around post, to me I love it but then again I did the line MP stuff and have moved on to the fun side of MP, with the working dogs. Do your MP line time and if you are good at that go traffic, K-9 or something along those lines. There are many sides to each MOS, I had a friend in NBC that did funeral detail for his first year in the Army. Another friend in NBC was our Armor NCOIC and loved it.
It is all like Lt Spider stated, you will not always do your MOS which to me is the fun part, you are learning and doing so much stuff.
To those not in basic yet or in AIT and think they can't make it, get to your unit and then decide after a while.

Its called duties, details and come with the job its part of being a Soldier. Remember, again young Soldier, you are a Soldier first and then your MOS, again you have lots to learn young Soldier. Good luck with your career.

Did I say that duties/details where not part of being a soldier?
I know that your a soldier first, i was just letting new and upcoming soldiers know that the army is not like what goarmy.com saids it is.
I never said that i knew more than you. your right i still have alot to learn and so do. If you can't take some constructional criticism/on the spot correction from a fellow soldier (regardless of rank) then good luck with your career.

I'm going to basic in 5 days (jan 15th)and going to train as a 68W (Healthcare Specialist) and I want to be a 25M (Multimedia Illustrator).
I'm only going in for two years and I'm wondering if i should notify somebody as soon as possible about me wanting to switch or should I let somebody know once I'm deployed.
