I joined last June as an 89D trainee, and it really kinda ticked me off how I couldnt find anything on the net about what i was about to go through, so Ill answer any question out there as best as I can..

First things first though..

* If you have poor study skills, you wont make it. Definatley take some classes on taking notes.

* Anyone thats dedicated to it WILL graduate and earn their crab.

* 99% of the tests require an 85% or better to pass, where missing more than 3 questions will fail you.

* The MOS isnt insane, its just us. We work smarter, not harder. We perform our job the safest we can, but its never safe.

* Yes, there are Drill Segeants at the 10 week pre-course in Redstone Arsenal.

* No, they do not like you there. The Drill Sergeants are Ammo Specialists (possibly EOD roll-outs), as EOD tech do not do recruiting or Drill Sergeant positions.

* Funnest MOS Ive seen out there. The Instructors are the greatest bunch of people i have ever had the pleasure of working with, and they ALL want to see you graduate.

* You never work alone, but what you know is the deciding factor in a life/death situation, and your life isnt the only one on the line.

* After Redstone Arsenal, you move on to Eglin AFB, FL. Yes, there are Drill Sergeants there too.

If I didnt touch on anything, lemme know and I'll try to clue you in.

This post has been deleted due to the fact that the person portrayed on this website as "ArmySlaveHooah" is, in fact, an impostor.

Your comments shows your inexperience in the army, Private, Your MOS is not elite, the ARMY does not just function on one job. It takes a collective force to keep the military functioning. All MOSs are elite and needed for if they weren't there would only be one. We are all trained in BCT to be 11B, not 89D. As A DS, I will tell you we treat every Soldier the same, MOS does not matter. I am nowhere near being a roll out. I to have a top secret clearance and a GT score of 126. I was well qualified to get any MOS the military had to offer. I am a 94 series not a 89. My military sense far surpass yours becuase any good Soldier knows we work together as a TEAM. Maybe once you're in the army long enough you to will grow to know this, maybe we messed up with you by not imbedding that fact in your head. But as a leader, all cannot be reached and we owe you an apology for you being one of the unfortunate. Sorry, you'll never know what a great honor it is to be a Drill Sergeant but like our jobs here everyone can't do and by your comments the ARMY and new recruits are the lucky ones. Hope someone in your leadership guides and mentor you and you LISTEN and take it in. GO ORDNANCE
