The MEPS station keeps the current list of bonuses, but you don't talk with them until AFTER you've commited with the recruiter to enlist, and done the initial medical exam and testing.
Tell the recruiter you WILL enlist IF you can get the job and bonus you want.
REMEMBER If it's NOT IN WRITING it's absolutely NOT GUARANTEED. Don't believe anything the recruiter tells you that's not on the contract or in army regulations....
You only make a verbal non-binding commitment with the recruiter. A recruiter
CAN NOT, I REPEAT CAN NOT commit you to a contract with the army. People leave from the floor at MEPS all the time because they change thier mind.
So dont make it seem like once you talk to a recruiter and go and test and physical that your in some binding contract. What are you supposed to see the counselors first then go test and phys?????????? What sense does that make?
And your recruiters have a list of all the current bonuses and you can see that list. Also you reserve your job in the recruiting station(which is still non-binding) and it shows all your job options and bonuses at that time! Its called FSR2S(of course you have to take the ASVAB first).
Most high demand jobs that people want, do not come with the bonus you would like to get either. The jobs that need filled get the higher bonuses. The only way you can determine how much your bonus will be, is by job choice, not "I want to be an MP and I want 40,000 or I am not enlisting" guess what bud your not enlisting!!!!!!.
The only thing that actually wasnt off base was your last comment. Because some recruiters are shady, but thats what the MEPS counselors are for. They review applicants contracts with them before they sign anything.
