Hi all,

To give you all a bit of background on myself, I'm British born/bred, emigrated to the US last Sept after marrying my American Sweetheart, and am seriously considering enlisting in the US Army! I have a Green Card, so am eligible for certain MOS's, and in particular am looking at 27D (Paralegal), 15Q (Air Traffic Control), or one of the other 15 Series such as 15Y or 15T.

My main concerns are trying to pick one with a chance of an overseas posting (Europe in particular), good variety of interesting work, and promotion prospects. Incidentally, I already have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, so I will definately be looking at OCS once I get the US Citizenship through the expedited process the USCIS offers to military personnel!

I'm trying to get more info about the MOS's above because I've had a hard time finding any more info beyond what I've been told by the recruiter and what's on the goarmy.com website.

I've also already taken the ASVAB (scored a 98), and done the medical for the US Coast Guard, as I was originally looking at going with them. However it turns out that it's going to take me up to 2 years to get my Citizenship even with the expedited process, and during that time I'll either have to stay as an E-3 (non-rated i.e. no MOS), or pick a non-citizen MOS which are v limited in the USCG.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

27D is a great career field especially if you plan on becoming an officer. You will spend a lot of time with officers especially senior ones, so observe. Therefore, getting recommendations will be no problem. As far as being stationed in Europe, that should not be a problem. We 27D are always in contact with our HRC representative at DA, so if you don't get Europe as your first duty station you can get it by request after one year.
