As you can tell from the title, this bonus is for deployed Soldiers. It is referred to as "MOS immaterial" meaning any MOS, no matter the strength, is eligible for the bonus while deployed.

I am currenty depoyed to Iraq and I am trying to wait unti January to reenist. I hit my "over 4" mark in January and that would tack on another $1300 to my bonus. I would like to know when the anticipated date for the new MILPER MSG discussing the terms of the SRB that will take effect after 31 Dec 2005. Do you have any information that could help my decision? I want to reenlist but I also want the money.
All bonuses with an expiration date of 31 December 2005 have been extended to 31 December 2006 per RETAIN (which is the program your Career Counselor uses)
You will be good to reenlist in January.
Besides the "over 4", you'll get your pay raise too.
I am about to reenlist for this bonus, but I plan on applying for OCS when I get back next year. My question is if I get picked up for OCS would I have to pay the bonus back. I still have 31 mo of POS if that makes a difference.
AR 601-280, Chapter 5, paragraph 5-13c: Recoupment of an unearned bonus is not required if the soldier is separated to permit acceptance of a commission or warrant appointment or to enter a program leading to a commission or warrant appointment.
