I am currently TDY at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Here is the problem. First off, I am not complaining about my assignment, just looking at my options since I am geographically away from my home station in San Antonio. I just came down on assignment to Ft. Jackson, SC as a Platoon Sergeant for MOS 09L, report date is 10 September 2008. Further more, I will be in my Bonus Zone shortly (B Zone on 22 August this year), but I would also like to have an opportunity for Choice of Duty Station. I know I can get the bonus, but with such short notice, can I get my assignment changed. Any information regarding this question would be greatly appreciated. As I said before, I would like to receive the bonus but will not be able to Re-Up until 22 August.
Since you are on assignment instructions, you can only reenlist for Option 1, Regular Army.
Assuming you already reenlisted for an A Zone bonus before there are a couple things you can do here for your bonus situation (because you only have 30 days to make a decision)
1. You can either request, through your Career Counselor, to wait to reenlist when you enter your B Zone, or
2. You can request to reenlist for the B Zone early. Again, this request will go through your Career Counselor and HRC is the approval authority.
First off, I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I informed my Career Counselor of the Re-Enlistment in the B Zone early. He said he didn't know anything about it. Is there a special process he needs to go through? Any information would be helpful. Thanks. Here is a little information to clarify my situation:
