Depending on the current retention policy when you reenlist, you can reenlist for Option 2, Current Station Stabilization to stay at your current installation when you are within your 24-month reenlistment window.

well since the unit automatically puts a 3 year stabilization code on me when I get there would they probably put another 3 year code if I were to do option 2? Or would I just do option 5 again? And another question for you AR, after I do my 3 years there at fort detrick, how hard is it to get into recruiting for a few years? Does it matter about dwell time when it comes to recruiting and DS?

You're probably going to a special or nominative assignment and you're getting 3 year stabilization. If you were to reenlist for stabilization, you're only guaranteed 12 months. But since this is a special/nominatve assignment, you can only be stabilized longer through that branch.

Since recruiter and drill sergeant duty are exempt from stop move (when dealing with deploying units), these assignments don't seem to require current dwell time.

Detrick sucks, I've never beens stationed there but a good friend of mine is and it's the pits bro. They have built some new housing but the likelyhood of you getting it is very slim. They will probably put you in the old housing, and if you wish you can be put on the list for new housing, however the move will be at your expense and you will still have to come out of pocket for the pro rated rent even though you are already in housing. The base is pretty small, with an little air field, and that's about it. The PX closes long before the sun ducks the horizon and there isn't much to do or see in Fredricks Maryland. D.C. is about 45 minutes to an hour away depending on traffic, so that may or may not be a good thing. If you want to be in Maryland, I reccomend Ft. Meade, the army pretty much forgot about that place, and they've got a 24 hour shoppette/ class six so the party never stops, lol.

sorry for all these questions on here I am lost. So my next questions is this:

1.) Since they are placing me under a special code that puts me on 3 year stabilization (because of the special program I am in) my branch cant decide to move me just because of dwell time can they? I mean they would want me to stay there and continue to be an asset right?

2.) When I get there can I ask to live off base, that way I atleast can live in an apartment instead of in the crappy housing? What do I do to reject the onbase housing and get off base?

Don't know about number one but as long as you are married you can choose to live on or off post. To reject post housing you just don't get on the list.

Too easy.
