I wanted to post this here in order to receive any type of information or confirmation as to whether or not this is really happening. I have heard rumors that as of January there are not going to be anymore bonuses. How true or relevant is this information?

Shouldn't be getting rid of bonuses in Jan becasue the new fiscal year and budget started in 1 Oct. They still can get rid of bonuses at any time, but personally don't see them going away until after the war is over or slowing down.

Where did you get this information from?

During a retention brief they about a month ago the post retention nco (E-8) said something about he is almost pretty sure about the bonus going away and that he has seen the paper in progress.
Any truth to that I am not sure but thats what he said

In the above MILPER Message, paragraph 1 states:
THIS MILPER MESSAGE MAY EXPIRE AFTER 1 FEBRUARY 2008 WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE.
(Pay close attention to the key words when reading Army messages)

Although Career Counselors do not necessarily get an advance notice that a bonus is going away, you should reenlist as soon as you can just in case a bonus goes away.

Historically speaking, bonuses have been dramatically reduced towards the end of the fiscal year if goals have been achieved at the DA level.

Thank you for answering.

Where I got the information from was my 1SG but according to an article in Army Times the bonuses item that I brought up will most likely be nixed. The article states that bonuses will be extended up until Dec 31, 2008:
