I'm a E-5p with almost 4 years TIS, and my re-up window opens in May. When I first enlisted in the Army I received an initial enlistment bonus. My 6 year mark isn't until May of 2010. Am I eligible to receive a bonus for reenlisting down range next month??

The reason I'm asking this is because I looked into AR 601-280 myself, and it states that you can not receive a Zone A SRB if you have previously been given a Zone A SRB or VRB. Well the bonus that I received was an Enlistment Bonus that I actually received payment around 5-6 months TIS. The A Zone is from 21 months active federal service to 6 years active federal service. Unless I'm reading this wrong, then I'm fully eligible to receive the deployment SRB. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

You should get a zone A bonus, plus a bonus for reelisting while deployed.

Negative, because you can't receive more than one SRB in each zone. Also my MOS (13M) isn't currently offering any reenlistment bonuses, so I would only be entitled to the deployment SRB. But thanks for the reply.

Your first initial enlistment bonus was not an "SRB" and is not counted for any reenlistment bonuses. Your MOS not having any current SRB's is another story...."Selective Reenlistment Bonus".

Yes I know this. But the way you worded your comment made it seem like you were trying to say that I should be eligible for 2 bonuses for the same reenlistment, which is not true. I know what SRB means. I'm waiting for the career counselor to reply. But thanks anyway

If you have never reenlisted for a bonus and have between 17 months and 6 years active federal service, you can get an A Zone reenlistment bonus.

Enlistment bonuses do not count as reenlistment bonus; unless you received a broken service selective reenlistment bonus (BSSRB).

Hahahaha...Sounds like a plan, and I'll help you with your spelling/typos. "Retenetion" is actually retention.

Wow, thanks for the correction. I hope you're perfect after planning a conference all day while TDY and responding to 25 posts while on your free time. It's also 11pm here. Wink
