I'm trying to re up im in iraq. They r tellin me that i need to re up for 4 yrs to get a bonus. I wanted to re up for 3 so we have a problem. I'm 11b and i got 6 yrs in my ets is jan 08.then ill have 7 in. My question is is there a bonus for me at 3, and should I just wait til I get back to the states in dec.

You will have to reenlist for 4yrs to get a bonus, you have to break the zone to be eligible to recieve a bonus so that means that you have to go over 10yrs(which is C Zone). You could wait till you get back to the states once you have 7yrs in, then you can reenlist for 3yrs to get a bonus. Once you get back to the states it will be taxed if you reenlist.

This is from AR 601-280, since you have 6yrs in you are in Zone B.

f. ZONE B eligibility—(POL MSG 07-01) To be eligible for a Zone B SRB, besides meeting the
qualifications of b above, a Soldier must —
(1) Have completed at least 6 but no more than 10 years of active service on the date of reenlistment.
(2) Reenlist in the AA for at least 3 years.
(3) Have a total of at least 10 years of active duty service when the term of reenlistment is added to existing active service.
(4) Have not previously received a Zone B SRB.

Same reason I re-enlisted for four years last time - to break my C zone.

Same here, reenlisted for 4 years and got 23 g's tax free.

you can get a bonus tax free in the states if you have TSP and your bonus money going to it. check it out.
