As originally posted by CavMedPSG, President Bsush has signed the NDAA. Below is the link to his press release. As soon as HRC provides guidance, I'll post it.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/01/20080128-10.html

Today, I have signed into law H.R. 4986, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008. The Act authorizes funding for the defense of the United States and its interests abroad, for military construction, and for national security-related energy programs.

Provisions of the Act, including sections 841, 846, 1079, and 1222, purport to impose requirements that could inhibit the President's ability to carry out his constitutional obligations to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, to protect national security, to supervise the executive branch, and to execute his authority as Commander in Chief. The executive branch shall construe such provisions in a manner consistent with the constitutional authority of the President.

GEORGE W. BUSH
THE WHITE HOUSE,

Sorry about not providing the other essential information...Im currently extended till Apr 08 (Old ETS OCT 07) and Im awaiting approval of my COAD. I was injured in Iraq but desire to stay in even after my NEB rating was a permenant 80%. I want to do 5 yrs and 6 months. I will still be allowed to work as a 13F but outside my MOS and some Tradoc work.

Greetings. A couple of questions for ya here. This will be my 4th reenlistment, I have 12 years of service, I'm an E-5P 25U (a critical MOS) with an adjusted BASD of 4 November 1994 (due to a break in service) and will be reenlisting "indefinate". According to the chart you have, this qualifies me for a bonus of $13,500 if I read it correctly. Additionally I am deployed in Iraq right now. When I use the deployed code it tells me that the bonus is only $11,000.00. Maybe I'm thinking "wishfully" here, but does that mean I qualify for both bonuses?

Since you are not a SSG, you will not be reenlisting under the indefinite reenlistment program; SSG and above only.

Also, sorry, but you can only get one bonus per zone. You will not be getting both the MOS and deployed bonus. I think the Army would go broke if they offered that.

This paragraph means that if you didn't re-up because the bonus but could have then you still get it correct?

(2) COVERED INDIVIDUALS- An individual referred to in paragraph (1) is an individual who would have met all of the qualifications for a bonus, special pay, or similar benefit under a provision of title 10 or 37, United States Code, amended by section 611, 612, 613, or 614 at any time during the period beginning on January 1, 2008, and ending on the date of the enactment of this Act, but for the fact that the statutory authority for the bonus, special pay, or similar benefit lapsed on December 31, 2007.)

the paragraph in the post above your question is to do with what you're asking aswell. If you did qualify for it and reup after it went away I think you can still get it if you were holding out because there was no bonus. Well either that or I can't read very well. And they MAY go away on feb 1st but????????

I was under the impression that a promotable status allowed me to reenlist for indefinite. If not, will I still be eligable to reenlist for a 60 month term?

You can still reenlist for up to 72 months, but you can't go indef until you're a Staff Sergeant.

Can someone help me out. I am thinking of re-enlisting but not to sure of many of my options everytime I ask my retention NCO he really doesnt provide me much info. I am a 42A basd of 28 Dec 04 ETS 29 Dec 08 and I am a SPC.

I want a bonus now that the NDAA has been signed but would also like duty station of choice. Is there a way I can get both?

Ok, now Im confused. I've got one side saying that reenlistment bonuses are reinstated/retroactive and the other side saying that the reenlistment bonuses will end 01 FEB 08. What's really going on? So if I don't/can't (can't because I'm waiting on COAD approval)reenlist by 01 FEB 08 does that mean I'll get no bonus?

I couldn't tell you about your situation I'm not a counselor and if you're confused by what I posted earlier I am just here looking for answers too. As far as I know the bonuses will be retro to Jan 1 and still waiting to so about my question posted above.

If you qualify, you can receive a Options 4 of 5 and receive a reenlistment bonus.
