Never heard about this ... there may be changes coming down affecting bonuses, so if you're ready to reenlist, get to it.

I'm deployed in Iraq and trying to reenlist before Feb 1st. My retention officer says she can only get the bonus, but I wanted to know if I can get a duty station too.

Ok, I felt I should come back in and get more in detail about my question and ask another.

I'm a SPC(P) 25L. I just deployed out here in Iraq in Dec 07. I'm trying to reenlist for either a J2 ASI or Fort Gordon, but also I want to make sure I get a good bonus. My ETS date is 22 Nov 2009. This will be my 2nd re-enlistment (re-enlisted back in 2005). My BASD is 26 Jul 2001. What is my best option?

Option 1, Regular Army Reenlistment Option is the BEST reenlistment option.

Since you are a mid-career Soldier, you are not authorized Option 3, Army Training Reenlstment Option.

Wait, your BASD is 2007?!?!

The re-enlistment NCO said that I wouldn't be able to re-enlist for a duty station until we have been deployed for at least 6 months....is there any truth to this? I'm really trying to get back to Ft Gordon.

Usually assignments are projected until about 8-12 months out ... if your deployment is 15-months, you really can't get an assignment until you've been deployed for a few months. Just keep checking with our Career Counselor for the assignment availability (just don't be too annoying)
