I am an NCO that has over ten years in and will be reeinlisting indef. I am Active Duty Army and am an 11B. Since I am reenlisting indef do I get any kind of bonus or choice in assignment?
If you are deployed in support of OIF/OEF to Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuait, you may qualify for a bonus ... Check out the deployment bonus HERE.
If you are not deployed, your MOS does not currently have a reenlistment bonus for Soldiers over 10 years.
IAW AR 601-280, Chapter 4, paragraph 4-1e states: Those Soldiers in the rank of SSG or higher, who on the date of discharge, have 10 or more years AFS will only be permitted to reenlist for an indefinite period.
Career Soldiers are limited to the Regular Army reenlistment option. SSGs and above with 10 or more years of AFS on the date of discharge are limited to the Indefinite reenlistment program.
This is the exact reason I reenlisted as soon as I got over here. My window would not have been open while I was over here but the message stating that reenlisting out here could happen outside of your window made it work out pretty nicely. Rounded out the amount of bonus money I have gotten from reenlistments to 50,000.
