I'm enterested in re-classing and I have a few questions. I'm currently working with my retention NCO but I would like to explore all options.

I understand how it work but are there any loop holds. I'm an E-5 but allof the MOS's I'm enterested in stop at E-4. What can I do. Can I get a waiver, An reconmindation or take a reduction in rank. What are my option under these circumstance.

I'm thirteen months from ETS and I really need answers and options.

Thank You

Give us some more info. What MOS are you and what are you looking at? You might be able to get a waiver for on MOS and not the other.

You can submit a grade waiver to the MOS schoolhouse for which you want to re-class into. As far as getting pointed in the direction of whom to and how to, go about that....and more guidanace.....I would talk to your Career Counselor.

You cannot request reclassification while you are in your 24-month reenlistment window.

If you are an initial term Soldier, you can get Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.

Are you an initial term Soldier (have you ever reenlisted)?

I had a three year break in service but I was forced to re-class when I re-entered the Army because my previous MOS was dis-continued(63W). I re-classed into 21U(currently on BEAR program).

I'm 13 months from ETS. I very very set on re-enlisting but: I'm not enterested in any MOS's on the BEAR program and the only MOS's I'm enterested in on the in/out call stops at E-4.

Which MOSs are you interested in?

Seems you are a mid-career Soldier and therefore will not be offered Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.

And since you say your MOS is on the BEAR Program, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to reclass to anything other than a shortage MI MOS, EOD, or similar formal packet MOS.

I'm enterested in going into the 68 series with the exception of 68W. And I'm willing to do a reduction in rank.

Good luck going 68 series. I don't know if you really want to give up rank to go there. The 68 series are 798 Mos's. It's really hard to get promoted. That's one of the reasons I am trying to get out of this series.

I agree with Lumpy. Its 798 across the board for alot of 68 series. On top of that, if you get stationed at a hospital or clinic instead of a field unit, it's a whole different world in relation to the rest of the Army. Your primary mission is patient care, not being a soldier. That might be good or bad depending on what you like, but I couldn't take the lack of command support and unit cohesion, and I am reclassing as well. One week left!!

As a disclaimer, this was just my experience, and it may or may not be the same everywhere.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

You cannot voluntarily have your rank reduced for this purpose.

Because of additional requirements, many 68 series MOSs are not routinely available; you must actually have your Career Couselor request a 68 series MOS once he/she verified all your qualifications/requirements.
