I have a question.. Im a 92Y20 in A zone and im supposed to re-enlist tomorrow. I wanted to re-enlist for the maximum time i could get so that i could get the highest bonus which i think its 18,000 for my MOS and you have to do 5 yrs. Well im on my 2 yr window. My ETS is not till feb 22, 2010. And my re-enlistment NCO told me i couldnt do the 5 yrs plus the 2 i still owe to get the 18,000 because you can only re-enlist up to 6 yrs at one time. Why wouldnt i be able to add 5 more yrs to my 2 yrs to get the bigger bonus? Any help would really be appreciated...

You can only reenlist for a maximum of 6 years which would equal and addition 4 years onto your 2 years. The reason you can't to 5 addition years is because when you reenlist your time starts on the day you reenlist not the date of your ETS.

EXAMPLE 1 If I have 1 yr 11 months left and reenlist for 2 years then technically I am only adding 1 month to my ETS date

EXAMPLE 2 If I have 2 yr left and reenlist for 6 years then technically I am only adding 4 years to my ETS.
