The objective of the Broken Service Selective Reenlistment Bonus, or BSSRB, is to increase the level of mid-career Soldiers in specific skills. The bonus is offered to prior service (PS) Regular Army Soldiers who were qualified in the bonus skill immediately before their discharge or release from active duty and who agree to reenter the Regular Army in that skill. The MOS designated for the BSSRB program will be announced by MILPER Message.

Prior service applicants separated 91 days to 4 years and eligible for BSSRB will use the latest MILPER Message to be authorized BSSRB. Soldier must enter in applicable specialty listed in current BSSRB MILPER Message before termination date or reduction date of BSSRB.

The latest BSSRB MILPER Message is:

This bonus has been extended to 31 December 2006.

It's original termination date was 31 December 2005.

I'm very interested in going back to active duty and getting a bonus. A the moment I'm on active orders as an IMA reservist in Qatar. When I get back in July I'll go back to the IRR. I ETSed from Active duty July 05 and would like to go back and get a bonus. Would I be able to stay at the unit that I'm assigned to as an IMA or how would that work? Please advise. 98C SGT

You'd actually work out where you'd be stationed with the Recruiter or Guidance Counselor.

I would strongly advise you talk with the Career Counselor in Kuwait. I believe there are 5 or 6 sationed there.

If you are active now and will try to come back on active duty, you'll remain with your current MOS, unless your MOS strength does not support it.

There are ways to change your MOS.

So...Im thinking of re-joining the ranks. I was a 31 E, served 6 yrs active, 2 reserve; total 8yrs. I offically ETS'd in JAN 06. Honorable discharge.

I read your post regarding the BSSRB, looked up my MOS and it looks like a 1.5A bonus is available. But I also heard of a bonus of 15K avaialble as well. Money isnt everything..I realize that..I'm.just trying to figure what I qualify for.

If possible, can you please tell me what bonus I am eligible to receive? I did re-up once, for current duty stabilization (FT Lewis...LOVED IT)
Also wondering if I could be assigned to Ft Lewis again.

I would appreciate any info you could send my way.

Have an awesome week.

If you have exactly 6 years of active service and never received a reenlistment bonus before, you may qualify for the A Zone OR the B Zone bonus.

Your MAXIMUM is $15,000 with the multiplier you qualify for. Go see a recruiter ASAP and get the facts!
