I'm going to Iraq next year. By then I'll already be in the window for reenlistment. My ETS right now is 20091130 and I'll be an E6 with 13 years active time. Am I still eligible for the bonus even though I'm a career soldier but not INDEF at the time of reenlistment???

You'll be eligible for the Deployment Bonus if:

- You have not received a C Zone Bonus before
- You have less than 14 years active service at time of reenlistment
- If you are deployed in support of Operations Iraq Freedom/Enduring Freedom to Afghanistan, Iraq or Kuwait

Bottom line in your situation (and with the information provided), you are eligible.

I just reenlisted back in DEC 06. I arrived in Iraq SEPT 06. I spoke with the Re-up NCO about the availability of the Iraq location bonus. After doulbe checks, I did not recieve the location bonus. I really need to know if this is correct. Al Asad Air Base is my location. I am E-5 in a C zone with 12 years of service.

Your question was kind of hard to follow.

So, you arrived in Iraq in September 2006 and reenlisted in December 2006. Did you receive a bonus then (Deployment of MOS specific)?

Another question would be are you promotable?

I am not promotable yet. I reenlisted for 3 years. I cant go back and retrieve anything from the contract at all. How is it possible that this happened?? Who would I contact about this misleading issue with my unit enlistment NCO???? From my understanding I recvieved a non MOS bonus, not a deployment bonus either. Can I fix this at all. At the time there was an $10,000 and an extra $5000 if you reenlisted in Iraq rather that Kuwait.

Let me try to break a few things down for you ...

What exactly happened? You reenlisted and received a bonus, correct? If you are not promotable yet, you cannot serve past 15 years. If you reenlisted at just over 11 years, the maximum reenlistment you could have done was three. You cannot go past your RCP.

How exactly were you mislead and why after four months is this issue arising?

There are basically only two types of bonuses ... deployment and MOS specific (Inventory). There is also a Location bonus, but you'd have to reenlist for a specifcic location which you did not. You would have only be able to receive a deployment bonus.

Not true! Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq get the same bonus. There is not a higher bonus depending on where you are.
