Im a SGt about to re-enlist. Im in the A zone and I only have 18mths left before my ets date. My retention guy says If I re-up for 3yrs I will not get a bonus I have to do atleast 4. Im wondering if this is true? my ets date is 06/23/2009. I understand what your saying I only have 30 months TIS
To reenlist for a bonus, the minimum reenlist period is 3-years, BUT, your new ETS (after reenlistment), must fall into the next bonus zone - B Zone. (B Zone = 6-10 years active federal service)
Seems you probably currently have less than 3 years active federal service. If this is the case, your Career Counselor is correct in stating you'll need to reenlist for a minimum of 4 years.
