It seems like everything would have been considered and worked out prior to the MILPER message being put out...oh well, hurry up and wait...

Is it true that there is a new MOS Procument NCO 51C or something like that? quote: Originally posted by ArmyReenlistment: Personally, I think this was a little known law that caught many off guard ... if it didn't why wasn't this information put out with the implementation of the CSRB?
I'll be sure to post additional information as I find it.

What are the requirements to get into 51C? Can anything be waivered?

Ok, this is the hold up that HRC and DA are working out: E1.4.6. Relationship to Other Active Duty Service Obligations. A Military Service may structure its CSRB program to allow a Service member to enter into a CSRB service agreement while the Service member is serving under another active duty service obligation. A CSRB service agreement offered to a Service member serving under his or her initial obligation of service must extend the active duty period by at least 1 year beyond completion of the initial enlistment or active duty service obligation. Unless specifically authorized by the PDUSD(P&R), no CSRB payment may be made before the start of the active duty service period for which the CSRB is being awarded.http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/130429p.pdf (Page 17)

Huh...that would have been nice to know prior to reenlisting. I was under the assumption that we had to "move pretty quick" on this to be able to get the money...maybe the PDUSD(?) will authorize it....

I think he will ... no point in holding a Soldier's money with a technicality. Also, regarding the above reference, this was definitely an oversight, but I highly doubt it was intentional; I hope not anyway.

I know of one 89D tech that is just short of his time when he signed the paperwork. He has said that he will walk away without it if it doesn't come in before his 16 year mark. It will be interesting to see if they let him do it since he has signed the paperwork but hasn't received the money when the time comes.
Crimper...I am assuming you are an 89D going by your ID and this hold up was discussed in the community when the CSRB and its details were all still a rumor. My husband signed the paperwork when it first was released so that we could make a nice addition in the retirement account.
