Hey thanks alot for the updates and great info. I too am an 89D indef paid to 16 years. My CSRB request has been approved by HRC and now I know what the hold up is. Hopefully it will be squared up soon.

Yes ballandchain I am 89D...the problem at the beginning was more rumors tahn truths. I wanted to hold out a little bit to see what would happen with it. When I was sure I was good to go I discussed with my b&c and we decided to go for it. I'm not saying I need the money right now, I just want to make sure there are no screw ups and the sooner I get it the sooner I can invest it. I do know some guys that have been put in a predicament because they counted there chickens before they hatched...
I am sure it will get fixed...

I don't understand this comment. Confused

So you weren't already indef, right?

All the Soldiers already serving indefinite reenlistments were receiving their bonuses within 30 days ... my brother-in-law received his $100,000 within 30 days.

There are several that are serving indefinite reenlistments and still haven't received their bonuses yet. They have all been told that their paperwork has been approved and is sitting at HRC until the wording can be changed. This seems to only be the case with E6s on indefinite status. If your BIL was an E6 and got it, he was lucky. E7s and those E6s that reenlisted and weren't yet serving indefinite have gotten their payments with no problem. At least the ones that my husband knows and those that he works with.

As for the soldier walking away at his 16 year mark, it is my understanding that his indefinite reenlistment and, last bonus payment, can only hold him until that year and than he can try to get released from the Army.

Oh, there are several. A guy in my husband's unit bought a new truck and motorcycle just after signing the paperwork. Still hasn't received any money and is barely able to make the payments. That wasn't smart.

It will get fixed sooner or later.

This should be covered with everyone else's situation ... hopefully this will be signed shortly. I'll keep this community up-to-date.

You know, the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense has a web site with a contact email. I wonder if it would help to send a nice email reminder?

Yes, I'm sure this will work ... doesn't pestering always make its point? Roll Eyes

Why doesn't everyone just do a congressional?

I would suggest some patience here and this is why:

A Military Service may structure its CSRB program to allow a Service member to enter into a CSRB service agreement while the Service member is serving under another active duty service obligation. A CSRB service agreement offered to a Service member serving under his or her initial obligation of service must extend the active duty period by at least 1 year beyond completion of the initial enlistment or active duty service obligation. Unless specifically authorized by the PDUSD(P&R), no CSRB payment may be made before the start of the active duty service period for which the CSRB is being awarded.

It's pretty clear by the DoDI that Soldier will not get the bonus until the new AOS begins ... no one has to approve anything; although it would be great if they did.

Last thing I wanted to do was step on any toes and end up screwing myself or others. All I wanted was information and to be kept informed. You have done that and you're usually pretty fast about doing it. Please continue to keep us up to date and next time I am over that way i'll buy the beer...

so has anyone heard any news in the last couple weeks, the posts kind of died off. Was hoping the CSRB would get paid before I PCSd so that I could invest and buy a house at the new duty station but looks like it won't happen. Any updates would be appreciated.
