Well the tax free thing is a little more complicated than that, your guy still won't get it but the date that decides tax free is the day that the service member signs the memorandum of understanding to receive the CSRB. This isn't a rumor by the way this is what myself and an E7 I work with got told by finance when they denied his tax free claim. I don't know if it's different for me because the MOU didn't extend me my reup did. I suppose I won't find out until the army finally pays me. And for the record. I wish we had SGM Clifford back cause at least we were getting screwed by someone with a badge back then, not some mouth breathing track mechanic who has no concept of CBRN and never mind that cute little 'E' on the end.

"Soon" has been something that has been said since this whole mess started. If getting the bonus paid out was entirely up to the non badge wearing guy in charge, everyone could just forget about it.
I am new to the board and feel that we are in a similar situation. My husband is a E7 with a mos of 79R. We signed paperwork on May 28th and it has been sitting at HRC since June 6th. The lady who takes care of these is less than helpful and more than hateful. Everyone in our division has had response within 3-4 weeks. If our 19 years isn't actually until August 28th, does that mean it will be after then before we get the money?
Thanks in advance.

I’m sure that the career counselor on the site can give you a much better answer and he’s usually really fast to reply on questions like that so I’m guessing that he’s out of the office or something. Anyway the big holdup (4-6 months so far) for most of us on here is limited to SSGs getting the CSRB b/c of a separate issue that arose. They’ve been fast about SFCs getting paid. Maybe you have to be past that 19 year mark for payment.
On a separate note I get mixed reactions when I mention the word CONGRESSIONAL some say it should have been done already and if they were in our shoes they would have started one and some say it takes time for these things and we should be thankful for the possibility of making 100K. However the truth is someone screwed up somewhere and it’s emotionally stressful to a family telling them that they qualify for that much money and then letting them stew over when or whether they’re even going to get it for this amount of time. I and at least one other person I know are ready to start a congressional what’s the consensus on here. Will it help or hurt and I know the career counselor mentioned it sarcastically. I appreciate the help and advice but when is SOON and will soon ever come?
You know, that is what we thought at first, but we had some friends who did the memo last fall, before they opened it to 19 yrs, and they got theirs before their twenty mark. It also seems that the career counselor would mention that, but she said everyone was receiving their money in 3-4 wks. Who knows!
Thanks.

I think it may be also be worth mentioning that things can only change if approved by Michael L. Dominguez the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. At this point, anything is worth a try. This issue currently is not boosting morale in the group of soldiers it is/was meant to retain.
ilikechris-I do believe soldiers are grateful for the 100K. The problem lies in the fact that it wasn't just a possibility when the milper was released and now those affected feel jerked around. I know when my husband signed the paperwork that he was told that he was signing it to cover years 16-22 of his active Army service. It wasn't mentioned until 2 months AFTER his paperwork was approved, and he and his peers were asking about the hold up, that it would take a max of 120 days to solve the problem. It is now going on 150 days. No one can prove that anyone is working to resolve this problem as there is no longer any information being put out. For all anyone knows, everyone's paperwork is sitting in a big round file collecting dust.

Im not savvy enough to put quotes on here or I would.
Army Re enlistment, I know that you've been the one explaining this process and telling us to wait it out. Are you agreeing with this course of action now or just trying to give us some advice?
Crimper are you just joking. Or are you serious. If so, who are the powers that be and I don't know if thats such a good idea b/c this is just an informal biatch session.
I talked to my 1sg and SGM today to give them a heads up that Im (we're seriously thinking of starting a congressional on this. SGM called Womak. Womak claims that CSRBs are being worked through as we speak and they're down to 40 or so and what slowed the process was that HRC tried to lower the E7 TFAS or whatever to soon and through the system for a loop. Womak said he would "look into it" but he didn't even mention or seem to be aware of the whole PSUD signature or waiver cluster and it was the 1st time my SMG had heard of such a thing too.
With all that said Im still serious about getting the ball rolling on this congressional and from what everyone has told me the more the merrier and the more we have our stories together the better. So here is the question. Which route to go.
1. We appoint a spokes person and everyone goes to one congress person or 2. We each go to our own appointed congressman but with the same info no conflicting info and no he said she said rumor mill. Founded evidence Email's from HRC, Career counselors, Approved packet copies and so on. And yes will be sure to included Mr. Dominguez name in the mix.
Who is with me. I know that the Madbomber2 probably is. I put the word out on an EOD exclusive blog and so far I've only got one reply. Can we get more?
Sometimes it is hard to show sarcasm on a forum...as much as I could use the money and yes it has put a dent in the plans we had for this summer, I think we should hold out a little longer. Not to say that we couldn't get "organized" and if it came to the point of going to our Congreesmen we would be ready. I think the main problem and I could be wrong is that according to the wording there isn't a whole lot we can do. It specifically states that those of us still under a SRB can not have a CSRB at the same time and that the CSRB would basically go into effect upon completion of our SRB. So until the wording is changed or it is signed off on, I don't know that we would have a leg to stand on other than a breech of contract. If thats the case the new contracts would be void and you would go back to your old ETS date...of course I could be wrong
Ok. Womak got back with my SGM and the word from 20th and Army G-1 is that all remaining SSGs, around 40 SMs, on the approved list will be paid on 1 Aug 08 "The check is in the mail" Lets hope this is true.
