There was an issue with STANFINS in regards to FY 10 funding, but I'm not sure if it applies to bonuses or not.

Can someone explain to me this continuing appropriations resolution that we are waiting to get signed to get the bonus money? i understand that they have not been able to agree on the budget and i know that a continuing resolution was already signed to get us through the end of the month. so are we waiting for another continuance or the actual budget to be agreed upon or what? also, does anyone know the best place online to follow where it is at in the process and stuff?

What I have read on the news is something to do with the 2010 bonuses. Try to google it. I read that Obama was wanting to decrease the funding for enlistment bonus, I have no idea if that affect us. Wish I knew because not all of us are financially stable and I really am depending on my bonus money to come thru.

My husband reenlisted on the second and today the cc sent down a message that the budget had not been approved and no bonuses will be paid until it is. He also told my husband that it usually takes 10-30 days but could take up to the new year for the budget to get finalized. I don't know how accurate that info is just thought I would pass it along.

I am following it the best I can and it looks as if the Senate discussed it yesterday and is due to vote on it tomorrow.. so I guess we will see what happens. This is what I read..

Department of Defense Authorization Act Conference Report--Cloture:
Senate began consideration of the conference report to accompany H.R. 2647, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2010 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, to provide special pays and allowances to certain members of the Armed Forces, expand concurrent receipt of military retirement and VA disability benefits to disabled military retirees.

Pages S10567-68
A motion was entered to close further debate on the conference report, and, in accordance with the provisions of rule XXII of the Standing Rules of the Senate, a vote on cloture will occur on Thursday, October 22, 2009.

..and here is the link where i have been watching what happens with it..

I am not sure if we have to wait on H.R. 3326 to pass also or what. Does anyone know? I am glad this passed atleast though. I wish one of the career counselors would get on and let us know exactly what needs to happen to get our money.

It was suppose to cover all special pays and bonuses. Hopefully we will all be seeing money soon. However, now we have to wait on the army which should have had ample time to have processed everything but I'm not holding my breath. Good luck all.

yep it passed but at what cost to the country. it seems funding for thr f-22 will be cut off even though china and russia are now beginning to field gen 5 fighters now too.( at the cost to a lot of jobs in georgia and other states who helpp build this thing).also there is gay and gender specific hate crimes law in the military budget now( what that has to do with warfighting i dont know) and AG eric holder says military personnel and whites are to be excluded b/c theyre never victims of hate crimes.but the bonuses will start at least and now well see which career counselors did their paperwork right and which ones suck at doing the dd4 and bonus agreements.

oh yeah miamiseaturtle i agree i wish one of these CC's would get on here and tell us something too. my first reup bonus in 05 took 11 1/2 months and a congressional inquiry to get. it seems once they get you to sign the contract they forget who you are and duck and dodge you like youre the one who filled out the papers that go to dfas.they said 7-30 days but im not holding my breath.

Now a CC is on the topic and will try to address some things. We, as Career Counselors, have no way to speed up bonus payments. When I reenlist a Soldier who is entitled to an SRB, I tell them 30-45 days for the payment. Sometimes it may come within 7-10 days and yes I have seen it quicker. But to be on the safe side, 30-45 days is a good guess.
Each year, at the start of the FY, the NDAA is always stalled getting signed. If you reenlisted for a bonus, you WILL get it. May be a little longer than you like but it will be paid.
The Soldier needs to let his or her family know not to expect the bonus in a week. So many issues could arise that make that timeline not possible.
With the amount of SRB's being processed by DFAS after 01 Oct, they are going to be backlogged. Be patient, you will get the bonus.
