Help...I don't want to luck out! I need a career counselor's advice or someone familiar with this situation. Here I go....
I was just accepted for direct selection (OCS), to date I have yet to wait on my branch and class date by Mid August. I am in my window of re-enlistment and according to Milper message #07-180, I qualify for SRB, since my MOS is critical. I researched on AR 601-280, and did not find any restrictions to reenlist and/or acceptance of SRB Bonus. However, according to chapter 5-13, I am confused with part c. after reading the whole section. Basically, It says "recoupment of an unearned bonus is not required if the soldier is separated to permit acceptance of a commission or warrant appointment or to enter a program leading to a commission or warrant appointment.... now, apparently if I am awarded a paid bonus in lump-sum, then receive final notification of OCS selection, via Milper Message, does this mean that I am to refund the bonus I fully received?
Obviously, I am still remaining in the Army so I still want to earn that benefit! As money the money will help alot, but don't want to be surprised at the end!
