I was selected for WOCS/Flight School on the last Warrant Officer board. I am currently a SFC 79R and will be eligible for reenlistment in June. I probably wont go to school until August or September. My retention NCO called me last week to see when I wanted to reenlist. Either in June or wait until July and go indef.

When I do reenlist will I still be eligible for the 79R bonus? I dont want have to pay it back because I went Warrant. I know typically I wouldnt but since I already know I have been selected I dont want them to throw me a curve ball. Another thing I am interested in is the MGIB option for my wife. Could I at least get that? Or should I just wait until after school to reenlist. Thanks for the help.

I am sure ArmyReup can answer this better then me but prior to goinig to WOCS my Reup NCO told me that once you are selected for WOCS, you are no longer eligable for a bonus. Also remember, you have to have 2 years retainability from the date that you graduate WOCS so if you don't meet that right now, will have to reup prior to school reguardless. Best of luck at school and congrats.

I have a freind that is going to IPAP (OCS). And they have to RE-UP before reporting....for 6 yrs.

They do not enter their "window" till 2 months prior to the report date, so he plans to wait untill then. However of course im sure he could "extend" now....for 6 yrs. But that means NO 20K SRB bonus.

He has been told the the same thing by his RE-UP NCO...then was told they are not sure...and will get back to him.

What is the verdict, and if so, WHERE IS THE REGULATION THAT COVERS THIS????

If a soldier is ALREADY ACCEPTED TO OCS (OR WOCS) and they are RE-ENLISTED TO COVER THE TIME NEEDED TO ATTEND OCS.....then WHERE IN WHAT REG DOES IT SAY THE SOLDER IS NOT ENTITLED A BONUS????

What if the solder FAILS OCS??? They still serve the 6 yrs as ENLISTED!!!!

And also, when they graduate OCS..the re-enlistment contract is tore up...null in void. And they just have to complete the obligated time payback for the school then.

ARMY RE-UP...can u shed some light on this as posted above??? MYTH??? TRUTH???? REFERANCE please?

thanks in advance...

Department of Defense Financial Management (DoDFMR) Regulation, Volume 7A, Chapter 9 (October 2006), paragraph 090201 (SRB), E (Special Conditions), #4:

Members who reenlist or extend to gain sufficient obligated service to participate in a program leading to a commissioned or warrant officer status are not entitled to an SRB.

When a Soldier tells me (or S-1 informs me) they put in a packet for a officer/warrant officer producing school, I tell them to reenlist and maximize their reenlistment bonus because after they are officially notified, they no longer qualify.

No, because this ties into the SRB.

The only Soldiers (currently) entitled to transfer the MGIB to their spouses and the ones that reenlist for a Inventory SRB (not deployment SRB).
