So I re-enlisted last week and was told that most people got their bonuses within a week, now it has been a week and nothing.
So I call DFAS and they told me they see the bonus but are reviewing it? What? Are they trying to justify their employment or are they this slow and lazy with other people's money?
Why would DFAS have to review anything? I bet if this was someone at DFAS there would be no slow up.
I am confused, why would DFAS have to review something for a week?

No you're right, DFAS should drop everything they are doing, push everyone else to the side and get straight to Eureeka8's bonus money, because he's the most important person in the military who reenlisted last week.
A week? Are you kidding me? It's only been a week and you're already complaining? I got my bonus earlier this year and I think it took about 11 working days...and I thought that was amazing.
I think it makes sense for anyone who works at DFAS (who wants to keep their job) to take the time and do it right before cutting a $20,000+ bonus to private joe snuffy.
I usually tell people not to bother me about that stuff unless it has been more than a month.

OK jmavphil if you work for DFAS I can understand your anger, but for goodness sakes I am quite certain everyone in here has been given some information that may not have been accurate and it ended up causing frustration.
We are PCSing in a few weeks and we were hoping that this would not carry on and considering we have heard that usually it takes a week for bonuses to hit. I am sorry if my ranting offended you for some odd ball reasoning.
I am glad it worked out for you but I am certain that you have had incidents that have caused you some headaches or worries and felt close to or as angry as I was.
I appreciate your help Doubleduece and I found out that DFAS gave me inaccurate information as they opened a case on my bonus and they forgot to mention it. They understood and apologized for the inconvenience and everything was settled on the phone.
I am sorry jmavphil if my ranting effected you personally, but if you have ever been angry over some misinformation or lack of information regarding a situation that effects you then that might touch on the realms of hypocrisy.

whoa whoa whoa, lets calm ourselves for a minute here and just breath...nobody will win an argument over the internet...Eureeka8, this may take some time, i know people who got their bonus in 3 days and some whose bonus took weeks to get done, so just have patience and your money will come...jmavphil, maybe just saying DFAS wants to do it right could have been a better post...
...these forums are already littered with nonsensical arguments, lets try and clean them up a little bit...

I am ok, I just do not like it when people have nothing better to do on the boards than pick arguments and act like they are above it all for no other reason than they are bored.
I was told something that was inaccurate by DFAS and the supervisor called me and told me the information that was given to me was wrong and they apologized.
removed, DW jamv seems to like this kind of confrontation since a majority of his posts are just like this one. It usually comes from someone who has a personality disorder of some kind.
DFAS cleared up their mistake...I did not need him voicing his two cents for no other reason other than to act like he is above it all, when probably in all actuality he isn't.

The time given to DFAS to pay out a bonus, so long as there is no reject or discrepancy is going to be between 30-45 days. Lets try to be civil on these forums please.
Thanks SSG Black, unfortunately we found out that it was rejected due to an error on my career counselors part.
What was the most frustrating from DFAS is that I had several different answers from several different people at DFAS which was the most frustrating.
I do not have a problem waiting, it is the miscommunication and lack of knowledge some of them have. Which is troublesome considering the responsibility they are in charge of.
Simple mistakes to them could put soldiers into horrible situations or cause them grief.
I spoke to a supervisor who explained in detail what happened.
I was able to speak to the career counselor who is going to push for it to be expedited since they know the schedule for my family and I is very tight.
We did ask if the report date to our duty station be moved back and they felt the problem with DFAS and the bonus was simple enough not to warrant us moving the date of PCS out..
Granted my initial response was a little rough, but when it comes to pay there is just so much tact one can muster.

I don't blame you. Some people take things personally. Not a big deal.
Where are you PCSing to if you don't mind me asking? Hopefully this gets settled...I think for reenlisting and giving a few more years of your life, you deserve to have things worked out in a timely manner.
