Isn't there statute of limitations on these types of requests?

Get a hold of a DD Form 149-application for correction of military records; fill it out, attach any and all relevant documents you might have and send it to one of the addresses that are listed on the back side of this form. Do not expect to get an answer very quickly, but they will look into it.
