I am an 88M SGT(P)and will have nine years of AFS on December 15, 2007. My ETS date is August 22, 2009. I also made the cutoff for December and should get promoted on the first. I have been in Iraq for four months, and I would like to reenlist as soon as I get promoted. However, I had a ten-month break in service, and I have been back on active duty since August 9, 2006. My reenlistment NCO told me that I do not qualify for a bonus at this time because I do not have 17 months of continous AFS service.
Question #1: How can I be in the B zone, but yet do not have 17 months of continous AFS?
Question #2: As an 88M30, reenlisting for an SRB, how long would I have to wait if I want to submit a Warrant Officer packet, and if I get selected, will I have to return the bonus?
Question #3: As an 88M30, would I be able to reclass to another MOS?
You can submit your warrant packet the day after you reenlist and you will not have to pay ANY of the bonus pack.
88Ms are a shortage MOS, so your choices for reclassing into another MOS would be limited; but it is possible. If you did reclass, you would have to have the unearned portion of your SRB recouped.
