I have been int he army for about 2 years and I am in a bind choosing what MOS would be best for me. My main ones were 11B/C 19D 21B/C, the problem is out of all these the only ones with the IN call as IN are 11B/C and 21C. I am married and she backs me all the way, now this is where the hard part comes in. I have always wanted to be airborne infantry and be with the 82nd, if I reenlist for 11B/11C how hard would it be to get airborne and fort bragg, and if not fort bragg, where else can I go being airborne infantry? What would be the steps in trying to get this squared away? Thanks alot for any help

Hooah for you bro. Anyone who wants to be airborne infantry, my hats off to ya. I was a medic witht he 82nd, and for the most part it was the best thing for me, as a young "New army" Soldier. It takes a toll on your body though, expect to ache all over for the better part of your time with the 82nd. As an 11B, getting to airborne school should be a breeze, inturn making getting to the 82nd even easier. Are you about to reenlist? If so, you'll have that much more leverage to help get you where you want to be. Best of luck to you.

Not really. Because you can only choose one option in your contract. He can't choose to reclass AND a duty station. So he really has no leverage on his duty station. Either way, like SGT T said, you can re-up for infantry and easily volunteer for airborne. At that point I doubt they would put you anywhere but the 82d, or maybe Vicenza.

When airborne divisions (non-SOF) become relevant in day to day interrogation operations, or just in combat period. Also when they raise the money from a paltry $150 per month.

So basically never.

Don't your guys' asses and hands get sore from all the high fiving and ass slapping you people do congratulating each other on a job well done?

LOL

Additionally,

whats even more funny is that your unit, which is probably non-airborne, sings all the airborne cadences. LOL

" Cause I'm:
A-I
R-B
O-R
N-E

.....

I find that ironically funny.

First, we do a job and we are pretty quiet about it. How can we brag about it?

Second, I don't sing those stupid airborne cadences and always make fun of non-airborne and non-Ranger units that sing them. Actually, I haven't sung cadence since I went to PLDC because I have always been in the fastest run group, which is more focused on running instead of singing some stupid song. When we do BN, CO, etc runs I am always a road guard so I can attempt to get some semblance of a workout without destroying my knees at whatever agonizing pace the commander (and our PT failures) has set.
