Driver's Badge - Mechanic tab, automotive and allied vehicles...

Okay, so I just put in some of my soldier drivers for their driver badge. S-1 put them on as Mechanic tab. Now, these badges were put in for driving the unit Bus from the transportation motorpool. They're government vehicles so they qualify for the badge, but anyways...

In the regulation, it states that the mechanic badge is for automotive and allied vehicles. Can anyone clarify what it means by an allied vehicle? I just want to make sure that the right thing is on their ERB so they don't get chewed out later on down the road. Thanks.

I will assume that means vehicles of our allies (Germany, Korea, Japan). I use to drive military vehicles in Okinawa that had the steering wheel on the right side and a manual column shift.
