Ok I was wondering if I am authorized to wear 5 overseas ribbons. I have done 2 tours to Korea and I have also done 3 tours to Kuwait/Iraq. The thing is my tours to Kuwait/Iraq were 2 6 months tours and 1 8 month tour. I know the reg say have to be in theater at least 10 months and 2 days or something like that. So are combat tours are also counted as overseas ribbons. I understand the service stripe but was wondering about the ribbon it self.

Also seeing that I am stationed in Germany and deploy to Iraq will I get 2 ribbons or will I just get the one for being in Germany?

Actually it's more complicated than that. I would sit down with a S-1 rep. There are a lot of a rules to being credited with a tour. Were you deployed while you are stationed in Korea? What is on your ERB? Stop by S-1 and let them check it out.

Are you sure you read this? It eliminates the restriction that say you cannot be awarded a OSR with a campaign medal. So, you CAN get both.

As for the tour lengths for award, you can probably check out AR 600-8-22 (while I do some more research).

AR 614-30 addresses normal overseas tour credit. You can use Table 3-2 for awarding of overseas tour credit.

The OSR for OIF/OEF is awarded if you complete 9 Consecutive months or 11 Cumulative months under one tour. I can get you the reference if you like on S1Net.

I would like to see that please. ArmyReenlistment I saw that table also when I was doing some research also. What I got out of it was that I am allowed to wear them because it didnt really specify a time length for the tours.

This is one of the questions asked to the Awards Branch, Once the regulation changed they posted this FAQ and update it periodically. The Authors of this FAQ are Jerry Dillard & Army Awards Branch. I hope this helps. Just to state what is on the website "Questions and answers concerning the OSR. These Q&A have been reviewed and approved by the Army Awards Branch, HRC. Click on the file below to review the Q&As. Updated on 25 Jun 07."

Question 4: How long do I have to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan to be awarded the OSR?
Answer 4: Overseas tour credit is outlined in AR 614-30. Provided below is a clarification statement the proponent to AR 614-30 has provided our office:

“Soldiers who serve a minimum of 11 cumulative months or 9 continuous months in a TCS/TDY status get credit for a completed short tour. Your reference is AR 614-30 (23 Sep 04), Table 3-2, rules 5 and 7. Iraq and Afghanistan are considered isolated areas where tour lengths have not been established by DOD; therefore, the Army gives equivalent credit for periods of TCS/TDY. Also, since there is no official established DOD tour length, Soldiers cannot serve in Iraq in PCS status. To determine the overseas tour lengths refer to Table 1, Appendix Q, Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR), Volume 1. You will not find a tour length for Afghanistan or Iraq.”

Ordmechanic63b,
Looking at what you have posted in the first post, you should have 2 OSR for Korea. Now just by going off of what you have said the three tours to Kuwait and Iraq do not meet the requirement for the OSR.
If you are stationed in Germany and deploy to OIF or OEF and complete 9 consecutive months or 11 months total in the same deployment you are authorized two OSR's upon completion of your long tour in Germany.
I would get with your S-1 to find out about your 8 month tour in Iraq to see if it is like the Overseas Service Bar as one day equals one month or if is counted by full months.
