The problems I have with it is that my one BOLO badge looks like it's touching the tip of the top of the pocket instead of 1/8" down due to the angle of the shot. I am looking at it RIGHT NOW in person and it's clearly where it should be, yet it looks off in the picture.
Also, I've got that wrinkle or whatever on my left side.
Do you think either of these would be cause for concern for the SFC board?
I hear they only put it up for two seconds, but that they blow up the awards area which would show that badge.
Your badge definitely looks way off, it may look good in person but they (the Board) is only going to see the picture. Additionally, I would probably think about a haircut for the DA Photo (just a suggestion).

What's wrong with my hair? It's faded all the way to the skin and well within regulations? I'm just curious for your input, not being a smartass. Are buzz cuts required for DA photos and boards?
As for the damn badge, I guess I need to get a new photo. It's perfect in person so I'm not sure how to fix that aside from continually taking photos until it looks right on camera. The problem is, the people at the photo center don't want you up in their computer and stuff, so you get the basic look to make sure your aren't blinking or something and then a pat on the rear end and they tell you they will upload it by tomorrow.
I think he's referring to you hair looking just a little scruffy on the top. You have a few scraglers sticking up and out. Besides that, like you said, its well within regs.
Yeah, the badge looks jacked up. Are you having the photo taken on post or at a civilian photo place?

Like I said it was just a suggestion. It looks unkempt to me. You asked for some feedback, and that is what I thought the second I opened the picture. As far as the badge, have you tried standing in front of a mirror or having someone take a digital photo for you? If you do the picture at home (you know the uncomfortable stance) a few times, then maybe you can adjust it to where it looks right.

I cannot see how they are required but it is a onetime photo shoot to send to the board. I like to leave no room for error - again my personal opinion.

Like I said, I wasn't being a smartass...I could have my hair cut shorter I guess for the picture. I made sure it was in regs, but from my understanding they cover your head anyhow in the picture because they don't want people to recognize you on the board (that's coming from a few senior NCOs and the DA Photo place so not sure if that's true or a rumor).
As for the stinkin badge...yea I sort of tried what you suggested minus the actual photo being taken. By the time I adjusted it far enough so it looked right in the picture it was so far off when you looked at it in person...but I guess I could just take my uniform there and not wear it out and about.
Do I HAVE to wear my driver wheel and track badges? It would make life a lot easier if I just wore my stupid BOLO pistol badge, but the DRV badges are on my ERB
If its on your ERB, it needs to be on your uniform for the photo. As for the wrinkles, Iv'e talked to several CSMs that have been board members and most of them say they don't have time to get really nit picky. They are more interested in the fit and obviously the awards. As for the hair, not to be an ass, but run a wet comb through it.
Rub some dirt on it

I think you look cute. haha and the smile is good. :P
For the hair, just throw a pear sized amount of hair gel in it and you should be good there.

I would suggest getting a new photo closer to the board date. I got mine on the first week of January of this year for this years board and got picked up. Not sure if that had anything to do with it but if you research the AARs for the SFC board it does state that they prefer you to get a recent photo within a year, but this would let you get the next part of my reccomendation done. You should get your uniform altered to eliminate the wrinkles. Also, are you getting this photo done at an Army Base? I cannot remember any of my DA photos showing that many wrinkles. Just my opinion though. It is your photo to go along with your file and ultimately is your decision.

A National Guard Center or Army Reserve Center, I've seen soldiers get a photo at these that was chewed up. Only reason I asked is most Army Bases that I have been to airbrush most of the wrinkles out of your uniform for you.

Yea, he said he was going to, and didn't. We had taken like five photos and he was having problems with the camera plus the whole badge mess. Eventually he was like this is the best one I'll airbrush out the wrinkles CYA!
Maybe i got lucky or "hooked-up" when i went on about 2 yrs ago, they (the civilian taking the picture) put tape on my upper hands, and a small piece also at the bottom of the jacket folds. (kept it all tight looking) Not sure if that was even "authorized", (prolly not a big deal) but it looked good.
as far as the ribbons, i wouldn't think it was the photographer or the photo lab. (it was just a bad shot) I'd just Get it re-done there, if it saves a drive. It's mostly the glare of that one badge that makes it look more F'ed up that it prolly even is. But still enough to definatly re-shoot.

I agree with what everyone else has already written... If you haven't taken another photo yet ... I might suggest maybe not smiling as much either. I know when I openned the page I immediately got this huge grin on my face from your expression... Not that I was LAUGHING! Really, I wasn't.
