to say goodbye to our friends the BDUs my unit is saying for all soldiers who were issued BDUs upon entering, not those who were issued them from ranger joes or us cav, to wear them on 30 APR...now whos with us????

That is a great idea. Many of my fellow senior NCO's and I, still wear our BDU's every Thursday for "Throwback Thursday." Just a little morale booster. Our LTC gets pissed, but it is pretty funny to see like 20 NCO's walking in BDUs to work, when everybody else is not. Yes, we still would wear spit shined boots, just to rub it in.

Top, the rule here is you have to wear the brown shirt, black belt, and spit shine your black boots...if you wear the tan ones, you'll be sent home to put on your acu's...i love it

that sounds freaking great to me, I still have a couple pressed hanging up in the closet right next to my spit shine jump boots..... Hmmm to get CSM to buy off on it..... 2 no 3 cases of xxxx(PC) i ment pepsi should do it...
Sorry, to resurrect a dead thread, but I was surfing and just had to post. I was at AIT at Ft Gordon when the solid green uniform was phased out (circa 1984-85). I thought it was cool that HHC all wore the uniform on the last day.
Fast forward to 2008 and I'm back in uniform in the Army Reserve. I thought I'd do the same thing with the BDU and recruited my wife to join in.
That evening, both sets of uniforms, along with the below picture and a letter of explanation, went into a storage box for future generations.
You'd think since its the last time you would wear the BDUs, you were taking a picture for "future generations" you at least press them and make them look the way we did everyday before going to work....but its all good I guess.
Your wife outranks you by a little huh?

Actually, TransAm95NCO, they look just as good as they did when I wore them back in the day. I never did, and still don't, subscribe to the idea of turning a field uniform into a dress uniform by starching the s*** out of it. YMMV.
As to the rank, she's got me by a few, but then I just came back in after a 18 year break in service.
jgarner, I was wearing my Corcoran jump boots and they were highly spit-shined.
