Well, according to those with more weight on their collar than I, the reason that we cannot wear the OSR now is because according to AR 670-1 a Defense ribbon cannot be worn with a Overseas ribbon. Those that go to war or serve in the defense of a country cannot wear an overseas ribbon in conjunction with that countries defense ribbon. I hate it to. Ive been at Humphreys for 11 mos now, and I was hoping to pin that bad boy on. However, there is a cut off date, I would try to do some research and see if maybe you makie the cutoff to wear it, if you do you need to get with your S-1 and get it added to your ERB

If you came/come home after February 3, 2004. You will not get an overseas ribbon for Korea you will ONLY get the KDSM. If you came home before Feb. 3rd 2004 then you will get both.

Korean Defense Service Medal (KDSM)

If you have ever served more than 30 days (Consecutive) in Korea then you are authorized to wear the KDSM.

Good information and link, climbtoglory. Although you provided the correct current information, the above Soldiers were correct 4 years ago when this thread originated.
