I went to combat with my first unit. Then I PCS'ed to another post but I'm in the Q course. I am going to the E-6 board. My question is since my unit I went to combat with was my first unit and I went to combat with them am I automatically regimentally affilated or do I need to drop a 4187.

Depends on your MOS. I know Infantry guys apply for regimental affiliation and can have multiple affiliations and wear which one they choose, while Medics are automatically regimental affiliated with the Medical Regiment.

All combat arms soldiers must submit a 4187 through their S-1 to get regimentally affiliated. You can chose which unit you want to be affiliated with. It does not have to be a unit which you went to combat with.

But it does depend on your Branch and if there is a slot for your MOS in that regiment.

If you go on USAPA and look at AR 600-82 it will answer all your questions. I recently submitted a new one for the unit I am going to keep as my regimental affiliation.
