I belive the 25N school is just around 5 and a half months long. Its a decent MOS, everyon in my company that reclassed to it from 25F and 25Q seem to be satisfied. Its a lot of networking so if that is your thing and you want to be basically a major link in the tactical network its a good MOS. Personally, I prefer my MOS 25B because it has more of a Systems Administrator feild than 25N, as a 25B you actually get to interface with your users. Sometimes this is good, sometimes this is bad, because when you get them what they want you are a hero, but when things go wong or you can't need their demands you are a 25 meter target
I joined the Army in early 2006 as a 25F and right after Common Core (5 weeks starter-school in AIT), I was immediately re-classed to 25N10.
I am currently deployed in a Signal Company and I must say 25N live the good life. While the CPN's are sweating, the 25N's are chilling in the JNN (Big Box on the back of the truck) with an awesome Air Conditioner & Internet/Phones. Check your E-Mail, Call Home, whatever.
Less BS:
We also aren't bothered much.. while the S-6 (25U's mostly), get bombarded with phone requests and whatnot. The JNN is it's own little world. If you choose to be 25B, you may be asked to work in Operations (Not good unless you like being a secretary of sorts).
Education / Job Experience:
Plus when you do leave the military service (whether you only do 4 years or 20), the experience you gain from this job is by far the greatest out of all the 25 series.

Promotion Benefits:
And the points for 25N seem to hit around 350 area every other month. So it's easy to meet points after you go to the Promotion Board.
Conclusion:
All in all, it's a great MOS and you will learn a lot from it.
I plan to ask for 25N or 25P when I go to MEPS. So I think I have a pretty good idea of what 25N's do.
But AutobahnSho or other 25P's could you give anymore insight as to the life of 25P's when deployed? You say you are at garrison most of the time, would you be able to check your email daily? What exactly is the difference from garrison and the FOB?

Are you serious? Everything you listed..and more, I have experienced as a 25B.
I functioned as a Netops Tech back in 06' in tikrit..and spent my entire time doing the JNN's work for them, since they did not have 25N's that were trained properly.
25N IS a great MOS, but you should really not talk about how another MOS doesn't get to do something unless you really know. I do more networking then every 25N I know.
And your Less BS comment is null as well..it depends on your unit. In both of my last units, the 25N's had life a lot worse than everyone else. They were always in the field, always hauling fuel around and a lot of BS. It's not like that everywhere, but it's not fair to say that just by taking that MOS, you are subject to less BS. It's all relative to your unit.
Being in the Signal Corps you will almost ALWAYS have access to email and/or a phone.
Being "in garrison" sometimes IS the FOB. The FOB could be a tiny ring of sandbags and tents or it could be a larger place with a PX (Post Exchange, like a small expensive Wal-mart or Target), gym, and more.
25N is in the field- that's their job is to work w/ units that are out there. 25P is GENERALLY Not in the field as much. However, if you end up going "tactical" you're going to be supporting people in the field, you just are Less Likely to be on the very front lines like a 25N.
Keep in mind ALL MOS are "Infantrymen first, Signal Soldiers Second." You Might end up w/ a weapon at the guard post. You WILL have to travel, whether it's in Humvee, Armored vehicle or other, you need to protect yourself and your comrades. Don't kid yourself that you'll never be in danger- as long as you are in camouflage (or an American overseas) people somewhere in the world want to hurt you.
