I am a MS I in the ROTC program and I was wondering if anyone has gone through the program or knows any officers who have, and if the ROTC program prepares cadets for what will come in the real Army?

1Soldier:

I was enlisted for 3 years before going Green to Gold which has put me into ROTC now as an MSIII...

To answer your question about whether ROTC will prepare you for your role as a Leader in the "Real Army", that seems to depend on the PMS at each school and how serious you and your peers wanna take the time you have to train...

As a MSI just roll with it, realize that it is much much much easier than Basic and if you are lucky enough to have some good leaders around you, make sure to learn as much as you can from them.

lol don't worry. Just get down the important skills like the land nav and marching...Every thing else will come into place.

When i first started i had crazy trouble with the marching, but i kept practicing. We had a real weak cadre though...so i had to rely on the MSII, and MSIII when i was a I..

In my opinion i did better As a II because i modeled myself after the III's beacause they were there a year later. It was a fun 4 years though..

1soldier1,

You have already gotten some good advice here, so follow it.

The only thing I would add on is to ask as many questions as possible - especially of the cadre (lots of the cadets will not know what the hell they are talking about, haha). But if you have any prior enlisted cadets, pick their brain too.

ROTC is like most things - you will get out of it what you put in. Work hard and you will be more than prepared to be a decent 2LT.
