I'm wondering if the following path seems like it could lead to a career as a pilot in the Active Army. I would enlist in the reserves in an aviation related MOS (15 Series), do basic over the summer, then go to the University of Iowa and enroll in the ROTC program. As far as I have learned from my recruiter, after the college, I can apply to WOFT, and if accepted, turn down my officer commission from ROTC. If I am not accepted into WOFT, I can accept my commission and possibly get aviation for my branch because of my MOS in the reserves, and the fact that I am getting my private pilot's license this summer. I have also been assured that I am non-deployable if I am simultaneously a member of ROTC and Army Reserves. Does this sound correct or do you think that it couldn't be this easy? Any advice on a good path to get into flight would be much appreciated. Here is a short resume type thing for any questions that arise as to my qualifications.
