I have been working on submitting my OCS packet for about a year now. I have taken care of every part of my packet with the exception of being able to finish my physical. My first problem occurred when the medical officer doing my OCS physical told me that everything for my physical was fine with the exception of the fact that I had seen a civilian counselor a year ago. Since I had done that, I had to go and talk with a military counselor and get cleared by him. I went to schedule an appointment to see a military counselor and was told that since it was for a school, I had to get a commander referral for the evaluation. This is where my second problem comes. I sent my form up to my new commander and explained the situation. It has been a month now and I have had it mentioned to him several times by several different NCOs. He just keeps saying it is on his list of things to do. I feel that a month is a little excessive to wait on a piece of paper to be filled out. I do not want to burn any bridges, as I understand that my commander has to sign off on my OCS packet. Am I stuck waiting on this or are there other alternatives. I joined active army in Aug of 06. I understand that a qualifying physical is good for two years. Can this physical for entry into the military be used in lieu of the physical. Any information or advice is greatly appreciated.
