So I've been in the Army about 5 years now, and I am currently and E-5...I have never been in trouble in the military (UCMJ) however when I was younger I did get into a bit of trouble a few times kind of spread out over a few years.

My question is, does anyone know of soemone who was selected to become and officer with a few minor charges?

I think we all know someone that's been in situation.

Did you receive a waiver to join the military? That would constitute a waiver, if necessary.

Carolyn3723,

Sorry... I don't know anyone who's gotten selected for OCS with a few minor charges. However, I know this 42A (SSG) who dealt with a OCS packet that went to HRC and got denied because the soldier failed to mention that he had got in trouble in the military before. I got a company grade Article 15 about 3 years ago but I still got selected for OCS. Go figured!! I recommend reading the reg (which you probably already have done), mentioning it to your commander and do up the 4187 for it anyway. Talk to the admin office that will be processing your packet too. The board is looking at your current/past performance in the military. If it comes to it, they'll will consider incidents that happened outside of the military and also weigh in your age, time, etc. Unless it's really significant, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Although it might not seem like it sometimes, the Army is reasonable. Good Luck!!
