Are there specific forums for:

1. PARENTS of Soldiers
2. Soldiers at Ft. Leonard Wood--Basic Training

I visited a site for Parents of Marines at Parris Island, and it was quite interesting. Hope to find something similar for Ft. Leonard Wood or a Parents site.
Thanks so much for the replies.
God Bless. Big Grin

AMom,
I too am the parent of a soldier going through basic training.
He's in his 5th week of Infantry OSUT at Ft. Benning & I can pass along any hints that he gives us. Right now he's the Platoon Guide so he has lots of responsibilties.
I myself have 27 years of military & am a retired 1SG.
Top out.

Thank you so much for the responses. It is heartwarming to know there are special people such as you guys who can help the "families back HOME". I have found a few sites that I am getting information from and feel a bit better about "my soldier's" new career.

God Bless everyone who sacrifices so much for our country.

Moms & Dads,
Keep writing to your soldier. Mail is his/her only contact with home. Phone calls are rare & usually offered as a special privilege. Keep saying how proud of them you are & you have every reason to be. Todays soldiers are the best in the world. Above all encourage them to do as good a job as they can & stick it out. It gets better. Let them know that they have the most important job in the world : defending the United States.
Top out.

Our family (my husband, myself, her brother, grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc.) have been sending letters, lots of letters. She laughed and said she sometimes had to do push-ups for each letter, said letters from home were getting her in great shape---HaHa! I would love to send letters or packages to those who don't receive. Any ideas how that could be accomplished?

how funny that is to me.
She called today and said she was in great shape (recently recovered from a bout of upper-respiratory trouble) and seems so enthusiastic about her training. She actually seems to be having F U N!!! Quite the athlete, so always up to a challenge.

I am looking forward to this career decision of hers....although it truly took my breath away at first. Now, I am so proud to be a "Military Mom".

I appreciate your "suggestions". Keep 'em coming.

God Bless.

AMom,

You have no idea how good it is to see someone reaching out to do some research about the Military so that they can educate themselves on how to better support those who decide to serve our country. You remind me of my mom... she was extremely nervous when she first found out and then as I talked her through my Basic Combat Training she became more supportive and now introduces me first by what I do and then as her son. It will make your daughter feel proud to be doing what she is if she knows how much you care about her new career choice.

Thank you for caring.

AMom, keep supporting your kid. I know it means a lot to her as it would if it was me. It'll really help when she needs it. I wish my mom was that enthusiastic :?

Have a specific question, hoping for an answer....

Any advise or suggestions, besides the obvious one:-) which is hoping he will still be able to finish in time, instead of being re-cycled to another time/schedule?
