You have no idea how good it is to see someone reaching out to do some research about the Military so that they can educate themselves on how to better support those who decide to serve our country. You remind me of my mom... she was extremely nervous when she first found out and then as I talked her through my Basic Combat Training she became more supportive and now introduces me first by what I do and then as her son. It will make your daughter feel proud to be doing what she is if she knows how much you care about her new career choice.
Thank you for caring. SGT Pratt
Sgt Pratt, First of all thank you for serving. I am an Army mom. My daughter will be heading towards Fort Huachuca at the end of this week after graduation at Ft. Jackson. Could you answer a question for me? What type of pass/leave are you given for Thanksgiving? Thanks for your help. Sorry I am still trying to maneuver my way around this forum. This question was for Sgt. Pratt.

SGT PRATT actually posts under the name "enforce" and I sent a private message that name to tell them about the post that you had with the question. Sometimes the posts are not seen right away, but for the most part someone will get a quick short message in their email when they get a private message sent to them to let them know it is waiting. Tell your daughter good luck and thanks for taking the time to look up info to better understand the Army.

Amber's Mom, The Thanksgiving Holiday break is from 23 - 26 November this year. As for the Pass or Leave policy, that is sort of dependant on the Company Commander's policy. Most Soldiers can take a 4 day pass as long as they are not on academic probation, duty, or in trouble. A lot of Commander's may limit the distance Soldiers can travel on pass and thus may take 4 days of leave. I hope this information helps you. Thank you for supporting your daughter in her endevours.

A great site is: www.armywives.comThey have great support forums and lots of information. I signed my husband to receive some packages other than mine. People from all over the US send him letters, magazines, books, and snacks. He really enjoys receiving these as well. I agree with the rest that the guys/girls appreciate letters so much. I email my husband, but I also send him hand written cards and letters. To me they are more personal. You are a great mom for supporting your son!!!

Your brother in law is a "Commanding Officer" or an E-6 (Staff Sergeant)? The "E" in front of the number means "enlisted" which are not officers; nor Commanding Officers.
