Hi Peggy!! Glad to hear that you are doing well and that Tara is coming home soon as well. Sorry to hear that your grandson has to go though...Frowner This deployment went really fast for me. I have been working on my Bachelor's since I moved back to Dallas. I took the Spring semester, May term, Summer I, Summer II, and now I am taking 5 classes and am a Teacher's Assistant for another class (I actually get to make some money and contribute to the family's budget hehehe). I am not used to staying at home, I like going to work and school. Keeping it busy worked out great for me. I am graduating next year and this deployment has gone by pretty quickly.

Peggy, I will post some pics when my husband comes home! I am so excited! I am so proud of him! Tell Tara and your grandson "Thank you" for me.

If you consume your life with these thoughts when your husband is gone, you'll be miserable back here waiting for him.

What you'll need is a very good family network or become a big part of the Family Readiness Group (FRG) at your husband's unit.

It's YOUR career! Take control of it before someone else does.

A...R is right. Dwelling on the fact that your husband may potentially pass is not something you want to consume yourself with because it creates the snowball effect and only gets bigger and bigger. Make sure that you get yourself involved in the FRG and make sure your relationship is strong and keep the faith and you will make it through those tough times.

Just doing what it takes to get my butter bar.

Peggy, I am so glad both are home. Wishing a full recovery for Tara. My husband came home last week, I am so thankful that he is home safe. We are again separated, he is in Hood for briefings, and I am in Dallas finishing my semester. One more week to go!

Karen, I understand how you feel. When my husband joined, my first thought was "IRAQ", but the guys are right, obsessing with negative thoughts will not help you nor him. Also, he hasn't deployed yet, as Mark Twain said: "I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened". Don't stress yourself with something that has not happened. If the day comes, and he has to deploy, a strong support system and staying busy are the two most important things to focus on while you spouse is deployed. Surrond yourself with good friends and family, enroll in school, do things that you enjoy and last but not least, support your man. The guys need all the support from home that they can get! It's what makes them through each day. Let me know if you have any questions. My husband just came home from a year long deployment. Take care!
