Anyone out there been to Fort Leonard Wood? If so, would love to hear your thoughts. Any tips/advice?

Thanks,
Jamie

i spent my OSUT time there. Honestly, I loved every minute of it. It is Ft Lost'n'Woods, Missery, because there is nothing there. But if you are in IET training it won't matter. All the instructors I had were very good at what they did, and the training was great.

What MOS are you going for? That makes a HUGE differance.

But the general things like the Land Nav course and the ranges are great. Except range 9, that was jacked up while I was there, but they ended up digging the whole range out and re-building it so it should be fine by now.

Lots of large long hills for those marches.

What time frame are you looking at? Weather is the only down side I can think of. all 4 seasons in a day, no joke.

I remember my second FTX(field training exercise) where we had to ruck in under 30 degrees, got to our site and dug hastys and put up tents. By noon it was over 70 and sunny. Then that evening it rained and dropped to 40. When I woke for my second guard shift it had turned to snow and my hasty was a block of ice. But We made it through, and had fun doing it. If you listen to what you are told, and follow all the advice your drills should give you, ou will be fine. We only had two cold weather casualties, and thats cause their hasty fell on them, and the didn't wake up. So they were effectly burried under snow. We warmed them up, and took care of them and they were fine.

Just be carely of the weather(not that you will have much say in any thing) and take your training to heart. Anymore questions and I can try to answer them. If you are MP or engenier the can probly give you specifics for those MOSs.
