I am about to go to WLC at Ft. Campbell (april 2008) and am wondering what they heck are "grass drills" for PT; do they still have us out in the field for four days; do we sleep on the ground or on cots? What's the land nav course like?

Grass drills at FTCKY WLC is like circle P.T. with cards and different excersises. There is no overnights in the field and you sleep on bunk beds. The land nav course is self correcting meaning all the points have the grid on it so all you have to do is walk around and you'll see them and then you can check the grid.

wow, seems like a piece of cake- I'm surprised! Is the WLC at FTCKY still like this? I am wondering how accurate your information is compared to today's course

Kale407, Airborne is correct. I have 2 Jr. NCOs who recently graduated WLC at Ft. Campbell and their comments are on par with Airborne's. A major part of WLC is testing your ability to research information. You can find information about grass drills in FM 21-20.

Sarge, thanks for the reply. Researching information without the resources at hand is rather difficult. Hopefully they have the resources available at the NCO academy to aid in any research projects required. I'll give the FM21-20 a look once I am able to locate one.
