Give them a GOOD Map Reading / Land Nav class..

Practice some D&C / marching small elements with them.....

and ensure they can EASILY pass a PT test....

I'll be attending WLC in due time. Will I be allowed to take a very low dose of anti hypertensive medication, and are multivitamins allowed there? Thanks much to those who may answer.

They will teach u everything you need to know but its important that they can pass a Phyiscal Fitness test and all pass a tape test because if you get there and bust tape its going to go on your 1059.

WLC will allow you to take medications with you diuring your class. However they do frown upon multivitamins and supplements because of deaths at the school. And like ShootaShane said make sure you can pass the PT test easily because they grade TO STANDARD!! Also if you don't pass the PT test or tape it will go on your 1059 which will be substandard and you will probably not make E7. Just something to think about.

What is the connection between multivitamins/supplements to the deaths? and will I need to disclose that I'll have with me the medication or just let them discover it, will it make a difference? Regarding the PT I know there would be little or no problem with me because i'm confident of my current fitness. Anyway, your replies are very helpful. Thank you again and God bless everyone.

Some supplements contain ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, which serve only to increase the severity of dehydration in warm environments.

By eliminating multivitamins and supplements altogether, this can't be an issue.

I know at Fort Hood they have a website with study material, packing list, etc. I would make sure he/she has a good understanding of Land Nav. It's a good idea to have him/her actually go out and find points prior to attending. Also, make sure he/she can give PT the proper way using FM 21-20. Those are the two things most students had problems with when I went to WLC. Hope this helps you out.
