I ETS'ed for active duty a few years ago as a CPL, but I never got to attend PLDC (no slots before I ETS'ed). I just got offered the opportunity to go into the reserves as a Drill Sgt, but I have to attend PLDC first.
They're giving me the choice of going through AD PLDC (which is 4 weeks) or reserve PLDC (which is about a week and a half). With such a condensed schedule, I'm guessing the reserve course is a sleepless, ass-kicker. But with my current civilian job, the less time I'm away the better.
Anybody have any experience with the reserve course? What should I expect?
I've been in a LLLONG time before I went to PLDC and got pinned my SGT. The most I learned in AD PLDC was patience while working with others under you.

I went to NG PLDC the same time a friend went through AD. Our duty days were longer, but there is no road march, just a three day FTX, Land Nav, PT and the rest is class room time. When I went it was two weeks. I think RC BNCOC is 10 days. I left Fort Bragg, went to PLDC right after I joined the Reserves, I was impressed with the school. I think it depends on where you go. Good luck.

LMAO....most of PLDC is a joke anyways. Dealing with retards and cleaning a lot (or maybe its only like that at fort bliss...)
you do learn a good bit in the field though....if I were you, I would take the reserve PLDC. Besides, most things you learn best in the army are hands on.
