I got this message from my commander the other day. Im in the same situation.

IAW AR 600-8-2, 1-15 Processing Exceptions,

(a) Flags for APFT failure block promotions, reenlistment, and extension only.
(b) A flag is not initiated if the soldier has a limiting physical profile that specifically prohibits taking the APFT
(c) Flags for weight control block only attendance at full time civil or military schooling, promotion, assumption of command, and reenlistment or extensions.

Looks like if youre flagged for weight you cant do nothing.

I work in my battalion's S1 and we recently had a soldier who finally made cut-off fail a PT test and weight. He is not gettng promoted, because he's flagged. Sorry buddy.

That happened to a buddy of mine and the way the rules read if you get flagged while in promotable status that status is put on hold. As soon as you come unflagged you go back to promatable status. If you met the cut off score but pinned yet and get flagged you have to wait intill you come unflagged but your time in grade will reflect the month you orginally met the points. This is contingent on our command as they can draw up paperwork to remove you from the list if they feel its justified.

Sorry? My opinion is if a Soldier wants to get promoted and is expected to be a "model" for junior Soldiers, he/she MUST be height/weight standards.

I would have felt sorry for his/her Soldiers that saw their leader was overweight and may have slid by.

It's YOUR career! Take control of it before someone else does.
